Hey, I’m Zathong and this guide is about El rune in Diablo 2. El can be applied to Socketed Items, by doing so it grants said item different properties depending on if the Socketed Item is a Weapon or a piece of Armor. Let’s just get into the details below!

How to find
- El Runes are one of the extra Runes that the Countess may drop on any difficulty.
- A 1 to 11 chance exists for an El Rune to drop as part of the reward for completing Hellforge on standard difficulty.
Modifiers & Effects
Weapons
- +50 to Attack Rating
- +1 to Light Radius
Armor, Helms & Shields
- +15 to Defense
- +1 to Light Radius
Effects
Unless it was previously higher, an item Socketed with an El Rune raises the item’s level requirement to 11.

Rune Words
- x1 Breath of the Dying
- x1 Death
- x1 Fortitude
- x1 Honor
- x1 Malice
- x1 Steel
- x1 Voice of Reason
- x1 Wind
- 1x Unbending Will (Added in Patch 2.4)
Horadric Recipes
- To make an Eld rune, transform x3 El Runes.
- To construct regular quality armor of the same type used, you can transmute poor quality armor, an El Rune, and a cracked gem.
