Hey, I’m Zathong and this guide is about Sol rune in Diablo 2. Sol grants item different properties depending on if the Socketed Item is a Weapon or a piece of Armor. Let’s just get into the details below!
Sol Runes may be among the extra Runes that the Countess drops. Just on Hell or Nightmare difficulty.
A Sol Rune is one of the rewards for defeating the Hellforge on Nightmare difficulty, with a 1 to 11 chance of dropping one.

Unless it was previously higher, an item socketed with a Sol Rune raises the item’s level requirement to 27.

One Shael rune can be created by transmuting three Sol runes and one chipped sapphire.
A handmade Blood ring can be made by transmuting a perfect ruby, a jewel, a Sol rune, and a magic ring.
A manufactured Safety weapon can be made by transmuting a perfect emerald, a jewel, a sol rune, and a magic spear.
The base weapon type of a unique weapon can be upgraded to its exceptional variant by transmuting a basic unique weapon, a Ral rune, a Sol rune, and a Perfect Emerald.
The base weapon type of a regular weapon can be upgraded to its exceptional variant by transmuting a regular Set Weapon, a Ral rune, a Sol rune, and a Perfect Emerald.
