Jin Gameplay
Jin was portrayed as a Mishima-style fighter in Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament, but in actuality, Jin’s moveset was a combination of Kazuya and Jun Kazama’s, with many of Jun’s skills being kept and better versions of Kazuya’s moves.
Although Jin’s fighting style is similar to that of the Mishima in Tekken 4, he lacks their powerful single moves and instead relies on a variety of other techniques, including superior poking, evasive actions, stealthy stance changes, and exceptional counter ability, which more than make up for his lack of raw damage. Since none of his pokes are highly punishing on a block, his quickness and difficulty in reading them enable him to apply consistent pressure to his opponent.
Jin has a unique parry that he uses to “circumnavigate” some of the game’s restrictions. Although it has many advantages, it is challenging to put into practice. In order for Jin’s parry to be successful, his opponent must be physically moved away from the strike in order for Jin to counterattack them while they are still recuperating from the move, giving the impression that he wasn’t parrying at all. Some moves that are typically safe on block or just moderately penalised in other circumstances can only be adequately punished in this way.
