Background
As the name suggests, a markswoman is a woman who possesses exceptional precision shooting skills. She uses precise projectile weaponry to shoot at valuable targets at distances that are longer than typical. In the military, markswomen and marksmen are occasionally assigned to an infantry fireteam or squad. In this capacity, they aid the squad by supplying precise long-range shots at strategic targets when required, therefore expanding the fireteam’s or squad’s effective tactical reach. The name “marksman” was first used in the Middle Ages to refer to the elite troops known as palace guards, or bowmen, who were assigned to guard a royal palace or the royalty.
