Best tank in Heroes of the Storm are: Anub’arak, Diablo, Garrosh, Johanna, Muradin,… These heroes are currently extremely strong. If you can pick, you’ll have somewhat of a head-start in the game.
Anub’arak
Pros:
- High mitigation against ability based heroes.
- Excellent initiator and diver.
- Several long-range crowd control and interruption Abilities.
- Beetles can block skillshots and structure damage.
Cons:
- Main Abilities are skillshots that can be avoided.
- Relatively fragile to Physical Damage Dealer.
- Limited damage dealing potential.
Gameplay:
Anub’arak is an aggressive Tank who specializes against Mages. His strongest points are his long-range Crowd controls and high resistance to Ability-based damage. Although considered an archetypal tank, his Health pool is significantly lower than that of other tanks; Anub’arak must therefore rely on his summons and Abilities to survive in battle. Finding the right time to initiate, peel, and pressure isolated Heroes while avoiding dangerous situations are the skills that one should develop in order to become a strong Anub’arak player.
Diablo
Pros:
- Can build for self sustain.
- Greatly punishes bad positioning.
- Very tanky (when fully stacked).
- Resurrects immediately when fully stacked.
- Good at bodyblocking.
- Decent damage when maximizing ability usage.
- Great for ganking.
- A lot of interrupts.
Cons:
- No real escape.
- Needs stacks to enhance himself.
- Big hitbox.
- Losing souls at resurrection.
- Very dependent on his environment to get real value
Abilities. - Has a harder time against CC due to his bad mobility.
Garrosh
Pros:
- Solo Tank.
- Crowd Control.
- Initiation.
Cons:
- Escape.
- Burst Damage.
- Siege Damage.
Gameplay:
Garrosh is a frontline Tank that enters the fray, trying to isolate a single opponent for elimination.
Johanna
Pros:
- Extremely resilient.
- Iron Skin absorbs a significant amount of damage, preventing crowd control from affecting you.
- Condemn provides very good waveclear.
Cons:
- Can be kited by most ranged Heroes.
- Very little burst damage.
- Low mobility and no gap-closer.
- Relatively weak early game.
- Poor peeling when compared to other Tanks.
Gameplay:
Johanna is a low-mobility, extremely resilient Tank, capable of Blinding, Slowing, Stunning, and pulling enemies. She excels at creating chaos and disruption in the midst of the enemy team for extended periods of time, rather than peeling for her allies, as is typical of other Tanks. Her disruptions are all AoE and therefore more effective when used against multiple enemies.
Muradin
Pros:
- Good mobility.
- Strong self-sustain.
- Decent crowd control.
Cons:
- Weak crowd control could stop Dwarf Toss.
- Inseparable from highly mobile Heroes (like Tracer).
