When you first start a match, you’ll purchase a chess piece which you’ll position on the board.

At the very beginning of each round a selection of randomised pieces can be bought from the shop using Gold.

Once combat initiates at the start of a round, your active pieces will fight automatically.

Chess pieces have either a passive or active ability. An active ability is cast when a piece’s mana bar is full, and it’ll gain mana when attacking an enemy.

Chess pieces can be combined and upgraded: To create a two star unit, you’ll need three one star pieces. To create a three star unit (highest tier), you’ll need three two star units.

Every chess piece belongs to a certain race. Place multiple pieces of the same race on the board and it’ll confer a special unit bonus.
